Planning the Perfect Day
Planning a wedding is no easy task, it takes months of preparation, hard work and focus. This said, it's an exciting and fun project!
1 year to 6 months prior to the wedding
Secure your wedding date with the venue of your choice. Very important to do this early as many venues fill up years in advance. Book the registrar or minister for the date. Book the wedding cars. Find a good photographer and videographer. Book the piper. Start shopping for the dresses. Choose a design for the cake. Book the band/disco. Book the honneymoon and hotel.
Four months prior to the wedding
Arrange and confirm the dresses and formal wear. Choose and order your wedding rings. Order stationery such as invitations, menus, etc.
Three months prior to the wedding
Send out invitations. Arrange flowers. Order favours for tables. Buy gifts for the best man and bridesmaids. Set up guest list. Buy wedding rings. Shoes and Underwear for the big day. Go to dress fitting.
Two months prior to the wedding
Meet with your venue to begin preparations and secure contracts, sort out drinks, canapes, the wedding breakfast, wine, entertainment, buffet, cake, table plans, etc.
Two weeks prior to the wedding
Pick up dresses. Have your Stag and Hen nights. Arrange to meet your photographer and videographer together at the venue in order to establish a dialogue and plan the day. Pay any due amounts to services for the day (you can pay photographers, videographers, pipers, etc in advance).
One week prior to the wedding
Finalise things with your venue, table plans, final numbers, etc.
Few days prior to the wedding
Deliver the cake, table plan, place names, decorations etc.
The big day
The groomsmen and groom should arrive at the venue 45 minutes or so before the ceremony. Your photographer and videographer should be there already. Piper should arrive and be playing for your guests arriving 30 minutes or so before the ceremony. The bride should arrive on time, or as close to the ceremony time as possible. Enjoy the experience!
